THE EMPTY FULLNESS – EATING DISORDERS

This is the title of the short film/videoclip "The Empty Fullness".

A musical short film.

BULIMIA

Bulimia, an eating disorder.

Not a quirk or a whim.

A discomfort. Huge. Heavy.

Like the body you drag. That you punish. For something it did not commit.

The sense of needing to fill an emptiness with food, a love symbol, making you hate yourself.

That obsession becomes monstrous, ravenous, engulfing.

I thought it was food devouring me. But I was myself doing it.

I don't even know why I am speaking in the past tense.

The short film/videoclip was a great success in the USA.

In Italy a little less so. "I've been too raw in its representation”.

It was not meant to be an artistic work showing beauty, but truth.

Something raising an alarm, not only mine, but that of so many boys and girls who are locked in that cage of discomfort and loneliness.

I would like to end with a clarification.

Eating disorders strike adults as well.

Food is not a cure, but a momentary band-aid on my raging hunger for love.
